National Press Club decides to hold elections digitally

ISLAMABAD—The National Press Club has decided to digitize its membership list and conduct the next election through a biometric process.

A meeting of the governing body of the National Press Club, chaired by President Anwar Raza, decided to establish an IT committee headed by Ghazanfar Abbas.

The committee will liaise with IT companies to digitize the list of NPC members, website design, and conduct the polls.

The meeting further decided to select the IT company by advertising in the newspapers. It would choose a well-reputed company based on the website design and digitalization criteria.

Moreover, a liaison (rabta) committee under the chairmanship of Khalil Ahmed Raja was set up to ensure transparency of the digitization process for transparent and fair elections.

The committee will consult with all stakeholders and implement their suggestions comprehensively.

A decision of setting up a data collection committee under the supervision of Nayyar Ali was made to maintain the membership list from media houses. In contrast, a verification committee chaired by Ajab Jutt will be responsible for verifying the data from NADRA.
